The Patient Organization (P.O.) is a separate organization closely related to CSAM. It is a creative and participatory initiative, which began in January of 1998 with 37 families interested in addressing the health care of the group while fostering a sense of community. The P.O supports the anthroposophical therapeutic approach and has an annual membership structure in which families commit to paying a monthly fee. In return, the patient is entitled to all forms of treatment available from the practice as appropriate for their medical condition (excluding initial appointment). Services needed that are not offered by the practice are covered by the patients' supplementary insurance or paid for privatly. The practice can work independently of conventional health insurance with this form of support from the P.O.

The P.O. decides as a group, which services it wants, and contracts with CSAM for these services. In this way each member contributes to the health of the community and in turn the community supports each member. Gathering for a CSAM class or sharing a potluck meal at a P.O meeting nurtures the growing community. This broad and inclusive approach to wellness and medicine provides a seed for the future, and a freer relationship between physician or therapist and patient.
